Thanks for being bored enough to see more about me! I love having a blog because it gives me a place to let my hair down, write things I’m passionate about, and basically show off. What do you want to know? Okay, I’ll quickly give you “Josh’s Top 10″:
(1) Birth? I was born & raised in a small farming town in south-central Utah.
(2) Childhood? I grew up with seven sisters and two brother…yes, your math is correct. That makes me number 10/10. And yes, it was crazy, but no, we didn’t belong to some wierd cult. I grew up with He-Man, Nintendo Entertainment System, and Etch-A-Sketch, just like any other 80’s child. Sure, I had to fight a little more at dinner time and accept hand-me-downs, but I had a better childhood than anyone I know. Running around the mountains without parental supervision was pretty amazing. I’ve always been excited about photography. Among my earliest memories I remember that I would quite often sneek off with my dad’s old Minolta SLR (that geek talk for a camera with interchangable lenses). I always got frustrated with the answers to my question “why can’t I use dad’s camera?”
(3) School? I left the country life for city life in South Dakota when I was 9 years old, then came back to Utah for highschool. When I was old enough (14 or 15 I think) I sold my belongings and bought my first of many Nikon cameras! Life changed completely for me from that day on.
(4) College? I went to college at a couple different place, had 4 majors (photography included), and eventually graduated in Business Management from Brigham Young University.
(5) Married? In college I met my sweethear Laura, and we were married in 2005.
(6) Children? In 2008 we had the coolest “little” chubby baby, named Joseph. No joking, he was 11 pounds 2 ounces! We sure find life a million times better with him around.
(7) Passions? Aside from photography, my passions include: world traveling, “gourmet” cooking (that’s what I call it..don’t ask my wife what she calls it), building & fixing stuff, business (nerd), hanging out at the beach, fishing, sleeping in my hammock on warm summer days, listening to live bluegrass music, camping, reading biographies & self-improvement books, canoeing, and playing my 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System (I haven’t “upgraded” to more advanced video games yet, because who can upgrade from perfection?).
(8) Favorite Color? Blue
(9) Travel? I’ve been fortunate enough to experience the following neet places 46/50 states, Canada, Mexico, Scotland, England, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark, Norway, Mongolia, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam…I think that’s about it.
(10) Dreams? I want to retire before I’m 40, buy a farm, and start an international charity helping people in third-world countries. Check back with me in a few years.
